I've written a dozen non-fiction books for children, covering a little bit of everything: sports, states, celebrities, careers, television, theater--even icky, nasty diseases. Click over there on non-fiction to find out more.

My current baby is the middle grade novel, The Jack Factor. You've heard of Jack and the Beanstalk, but the original story never tells us, Who's the guy running around handing out magic beans? My book answers that question. Click over there on The Jack Factor to read more.

Steamboats or railroads? The future of transportation was a key question in the mid 1850s. My middle grade historical novel, Steamed!, set in 1856 Iowa, uses historic events to tell of one boy’s struggle to find his own way. Click over there on Steamed! to read more.

I've also written a non-fiction book for middle-schoolers, Firekeepers, a history of how people interact with fire. Click over there on Firekeepers to read more.

Most of my recent work has been for children, but I have some adult fiction, too. My stepfather and I teamed up to write Murder So Sweet, a murder mystery set in the world of Sweet Adelines. (That’s barbershop singing for women. I used to be a Sweet Adeline.) Click over there on Murder So Sweet to read more.
